Rick Ross Day Interupted by Gunfire

The 2nd annual "Rick Ross Be Out Day" was interrupted by gunfire yesterday. The event is an outdoor celebration where Rick hands out food, school supplies and encourages people to get registered to vote.
It was reported that the entire event was peaceful and positive until Ross took the stage. As soon as he did, someone fired a gun. “He was giving back to the community when this happened,” a source said to an online publication. “Rick and the whole Poe Boy team got on stage and that’s when someone in the crowd started shooting.”
The annual Rick Ross Be Out Scholarship is normally presented at the event, which was also sponsored by The City of Miami Gardens and The Children’s Trust. Police say they have one man in custody and are still looking for another person involved.

Shawty Lo in a Shoot Out?!?!?

It has been rumor that Shawty Lo was in a shoot out outside his native project Bowen Homes stemming from a altercation at Club Crucial. This is how the report reads.

It is reported that last night in the Atlanta's infamous housing projects called Bowen Homes, Shawty LO of D4L Records was allegedly in a "shoot out" around 1 am EST. The artist was reported being seen exiting an all black Hummer with an entourage of two to three individuals and a camera man. Yes that's correct.... a camera man. Parked on Chivers St, once claimed by LO as his "home turf", the artist shouted "Here I Go, Here I Go" and fired about 12 shots from an unknown caliber weapon into the sky. Causing a small crowd of people to scatter and take cover, shots were returned in the direction of the artist as the Hummer pulled off. No injuries have been reported at this time.
Sources indicate that it all stems from an earlier altercation several weeks ago when Shawty LO had to leave Club Crucial to avoid some sort of confrontations by residents of the housing project. Our source tells us ..."it was clear that the camera man was getting some footage of some sort for documentation." Be on the lookout for any new YouTube or MySpace postings about Shawty LO and this, apparently staged, shooting.

I guess nowadays its normal for camera men to ride around with artist 24/7. Sounds staged but who knows the way the world works now you can get shot walking out the gas station or even visiting your own hood.

Rick Ross Talks Bout C.O. Allegations

Hip-Hop star Rick Ross has hit back at recent reports surrounding his previous employment with the Florida Department of Corrections.

During an interview on Friday (July 25), Ross addressed the latest developments as “rumors” and maintained that he is a victim of a massive smear campaign.

Speaking to Phoenix, Arizona Hip-Hop station Power 98.3 (KKFR-FM), he responded to the question of his past employment by simply saying “Don’t believe the hype.”

“In the game we in, it’s real competitive,” Ross told Power 98.3 FM. “Competitors have to do what they have to do to eat. We making the best music. Y’all seen the BET Awards, y’all saw the magazine. We the biggest in the game, we the best in the game. Just keeping it real. And anytime somebody can attack my character, like I said, you get nothing from the Boss. I don’t give haters the pleasure.“

Lil Wayne Being Sued Over Track

Lil Wayne has been named as the defendant in a new copyright infringement and unfair competition suit filed a Manhattan court on Thursday. The owners of portions of the Rolling Stones' catalogue are seeking unspecified damages for what they say is the rapper’s unauthorized use of the song "Play With Fires," by creating a song by the same title.

According to Reuters, Abkco Music Inc. accuses Wayne, born Dwayne Carter, those with whom he collaborated on the track, and Cash Money Records, of releasing an altered version of the Stones' recording, borrowing too closely from the song's original lyrics and music.

One example cited is Lil Wayne‘s use of the line "but you can't blame me if I set this stage on fire," which Abkco says is too similar to "but don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire" from the original.

Abkco also takes issue with what they call "explicit, sexist and offensive language" used on Wayne's "Play With Fire," which appears on his latest release Tha Carter III.

The company states in it's suit that the similarities between the two versions could lead audiences to believe that Abkco and the Rolling Stones approved the alleged "remake."
